Duarte Pio de Bragança, author, is currently claiming the throne of Portugal, publicly formally requesting dynastic rights and demanding for himself the titles of Royal Prince of Portugal and King of Portugal. Duarte Pio also claims for himself the title of chief of the extinct Casa de Bragança and, therefore, of chief of the Portuguese royal family. However, these demands have no legal or formal consequences in the Portuguese legal system at the present time.
