Description
The book brings together works by the great contemporary painter Roque Gameiro (1864-1935), a disciple of Manuel de Macedo, Henrique Casanova, Niepper and the Leipzig School of Arts and Crafts, where he attended in 1893 after obtaining a State grant. If Gameiro became famous as a lithographer and illustrator, it was thanks to his watercolour paintings that his work became known and admired in the country as well as beyond borders. In fact, from an early age, critics identified him as the best Portuguese watercolour artist. Painter of poor neighbourhoods, with sloping alleys and 16th-century buildings.
