He has a degree in history by Universidade Clássica de Lisboa; he was also the technical manager of the 17th European Exhibition of Art, Science and Culture of the Council of Europe, a cultural attaché in Rabat, a cultural advisor in Brasilia and director of the Camões Institute in Brasilia, in addition to being the director of Alcobaça Convent.
