José Charters Monteiro

Architect by the Faculty of Polytechnic Architecture of Milan (1969). He worked in the general direction of national buildings and monuments in 1970 and then with the architect Sebastião Formosinho Sanches, in urban research, and with the architect Maurício de Vasconcellos, in urban planning. He was a member of the housing development fund, from 1974 to 1981, where he developed plans and projects for social housing on an urban scale. He was a member of the board and the governing bodies of the association of Portuguese architects and is a founding partner of civic associations in the areas of development and heritage. He was the promoter of the magazine Arquitetura e Vida, and its director from 2000 to 2003. As a professional, he has developed management, planning and project activities at urban and territorial levels.
