Simeão de Saxe-Coburgo-Gota was born in Sofia on June 16, 1937. He is an important Bulgarian politician. He was the last king of his country and as a Bulgarian politician belongs to the opposition; he already held the position of prime minister. Simeão II is a unique case in history: deposed monarch, he managed to return to power, no longer as king in a monarchy, but as head of a republican democratic government.
